Haley Harrison is an American Edward R. Murrow Award-winning News Anchor/Reporter currently working for KMBC-TV since joining the station in April 2012. He anchors the 5 pm and 9 pm newscasts of the station. Also, she serves as the podcast host of “KMBC 9 Storytellers”.

Previously, she was in the Metropolitan Area of Washington D.C. working for NewsChannel 8, as well as its sister station, WJLA-TV, an ABC-affiliated TV station. She spent 1 year and 6 months,  shooting, writing, and editing local news stories at NewsChannel 8, as well as working as a regular fill-in anchor. At WJLA, she was working as the News Reporter.

Prior to that, she was in Harrisonburg, Virginia, working for a dual ABC/MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station, WHSV-TV. There she served as the producer/anchor of 6 and 11 pm newscasts, from Monday to Friday. Also, she shot, edited, and reported general assignment investigations and news stories.

Before working in Harrisonburg, she was in Lawrence, Kansas, working as the General assignment Anchor/Reporter of the 10 pm newscasts, for 6News. She also transformed on-air stories into print every day thanks to the station’s ties to the Lawrence Journal-World. In addition, the job entailed delivering two reports per week.

Harrison is a proud alumnus of the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism. During her stint at the university, she was a member of a Political Science concentration and was voted the Vice President of Alpha Chi Omega. 

Throughout Harrison’s career, she covered everything from the East Coast earthquake to Hurricane Irene to the 2012 State of the Union address. She’s also done interviews with a number of notable people, including the late Marion Barry, documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, former DNC Chair Tim Kaine, and 2008 Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson, to name a few.
