He went to the University of Alabama where he majored in journalism. When it comes to his profession, Screws serves at WHNT as the co-anchor of the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscasts. Prior to joining WHNT, he worked at WCFT-TV where he served as a journalist. He, later on, left the station and joined WVTM based in Birmingham. During his time in Birmingham, he gained interest in NASCAR which he was very active in.
After some time working at WVTM, he moved on to working at WRIC-TV based in Richmond, Virginia where he served as an anchor and reporter. During the Superbowl, Screws made a collaboration with the nephew of NFL Fran Tarkenton, Chip Tarkenton at the plant.
