The feature story helped him to receive the Green Eyeshade Award while working in Charleston. Hall started his broadcasting job at KTVT, the CBS affiliate in Dallas, Texas as a production assistant. Shortly he landed his first on-air job in Greenville, Mississippi at WABG.
While there, he worked as the weekend anchor and “one-man band.” He also produced, wrote, edited, and shot his own newscasts and stories.
