He attended the State University of New York in Brockport and in 1985, he turned a college internship into a career with television. In addition, he is also a member of the American Meteorological Society. In his career as a meteorologist, he has been awarded their Seal of Approval for television weather casting.
Furthermore, he has also written weather columns for the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper prior to also being an adjunct instructor teaching Weather and Climate at Monroe Community College. In addition, he was awarded the SUNY Brockport Award for Community Service in 2005.
During his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and participating in sports activities in addition to being a huge New York Yankee baseball fan.
