Gaston is a news anchor and reporter now anchoring 6 pm and 10 pm newscasts for ABC13. As for her education, Gaston attended the University of Southern California and in 1987 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.
She first joined the station in the fall of 1992, served as a reporter and anchor until 1999, and left for MSNBC in News York before rejoining in June 2001. During her time on 13 Eyewitness News, she covered the Democratic National Convention, the O.J. Simpson trial in Los Angeles, and also the Rockets Championships.
During her time at MSNBC, she served as a network correspondent, covering President George W. Bush’s Inaugural activities, the U.S. bombing in the Iraqi no-fly zone, and the 2000 presidential election from coast to coast, including the Florida ballot recounts. She also the South American earthquake, the Mid-East Violence as well as Elian Gonzales’ departure to Cuba.
Furthermore, she filled in for NBC’s Weekend Today show as an anchor. Gaston interviewed several people including the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating. She got to meet some Senators and interviewed them, such as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Olympia Snowe.
Prior to joining ABC13 in 1992, she worked at WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, WTSP-TV in Tampa, Florida, and KLTV in Tyler, Texas as an anchor and reporter. As a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, she was honored by the Associated Press Broadcasters for News Reporting.
