Prior to that, he was an intern at ABC News “Nightline” from 1990 till his departure in 1993. In 1995, he left WUSA-TV and joined WTKR-TV based in Norfolk, Virginia where he served as a political reporter/anchor. After three years working at WTKR-TV, he left and re-joined WUSA-TV where he began serving as the morning news anchor for three years and later on began serving as a sports reporter.
Owens has also enclosed several stories and weather events including the renowned 2002 ice storm. He was initially going to be a CEO of a major corporation before he moved to be a journalist. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends. He also enjoys playing golf, camping, riding bikes, as well as hiking.
