Bennett went to Morehouse College where he attained his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English in 2002. When it comes to his profession, Bennett serves at NBC News and MSNBC as a contributor. He also serves at the PBS network as a Chief Washington Correspondent for “PBS NewsHour”, and a weekend anchor for “PBS News Weekend”.
While in college, he worked and interned at ABC News and worked hand in hand with Carole Simpson. After some months as an intern at ABC News, he officially started working full-time at the station serving as an off-air production assistant and associate producer.
Bennett, later on, left ABC News in 2006 and joined AOL Television where he served as an editor and reporter. During his tenure at AOL-TV, he covered the entertainment and television industry and also publicized that his very proud and excited about this role. A year later(2007), he joined NPR in Los Angeles where he served as an editor and digital producer for News & Notes. In 2009, he started working at Weekend Edition in Washington D.C. where he served as an editor.
Four years later (2013), he started working at NY1 News as well as other Time Warner Cable news channels where he served as a reporter. In addition to that, he also spent some time as a guest host of the Washington Journal on C-SPAN. In 2017, he made a comeback to NPR and started off by serving as an on-air reporter based in Washington, D.C.
While at NBC News and MSNBC, Bennett has managed to enclose several stories including the Trump and Biden administrations. Furthermore, he extensively reported on the migrant family separation policy and the first Trump impeachment inquiry. Bennett was also among the NBC News team when they won 2022 won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award.
