Fritz Wetherbee is an American 5-time Emmy Award-winning TV New Hampshire Chronicle host, currently working at WMUR-TV since 2000. Also, he is a New Hampshire writer. You can find him hosting “New Hampshire Chronicle” a TV show, on weeknights at 7 pm on WMUR-TV.
Wetherbee started his career in media in 1963, where he was the Nathaniel Hawthorne College Theater Production Instructor. In 1980 and 1984, he moved to Keene State College Media Instructor to work as a teacher of Media.
From 1962 through 1968, Wetherbee served at the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript as the photographer, as well as a reporter. In 1969, he started working as a cinematographer and a filmmaker at New HampshirePTV. He then moved to WSLE-FM/WSCV radio stations, serving as the news director/general manager in 1976. There, he also worked as a contributing reporter on a flagship news program on the American network of National Public Radio”All Things Considered”.
In 1986, he was working for WGBH-TV, as a reporter on 10 O’clock News. He worked there for 2 years and the following year, i.e. 1990, he again moved to WCVB-TV, to work at a Chronicle Contributing Talent show. In the year 2000, he finally settled down at WMUR-TV, in New Hampshire until to date.
Wetherbee has done everything from radio reports and commentary to writing magazines and newspapers, then to producing television shows and films about New Hampshire. For his work on the New Hampshire Chronicle, he received the gold award for Outstanding Achievement as On-Camera Talent in New England. In addition, he’s served in the US Army, worked as a tree climber, a house painter, and a stonemason, over the years. Also, he has hosted the New Hampshire Crossroads on Public Television.
