Frank McGeorge Career
McGeorge serves at WDIV-TV as a Good Health Medical Expert at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. Dr. McGeorge helps save lives every day in the emergency room at Henry Ford Hospital, in addition to assisting metro Detroiters with health issues as a doctor on TV. Dr. McGeorge started his medical career at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he graduated with honors in 1990.
“It was just like the show ‘ER.’ Every day was a wild drama by itself,” he said of his training in emergency medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Following his residency, he pursued a research fellowship in critical care and resuscitation. He has been busy since then as a practicing emergency physician who is still involved in the neighborhood.
He is a former president of the Michigan branch of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the Red Cross Board of Trustees, and a former board member of HAVEN, Oakland County’s domestic violence advocacy group. Dr. McGeorge also serves on the advisory board of several medical journals and serves as a reviewer for a majority of them.
Several Emmy Awards, Associated Press Journalism Awards, Michigan Association of Broadcasters awards, Orthopedic MORE award for excellence in journalism, American College of Emergency Medicine award for journalism excellence, American Heart Association PULSE award, and Michigan State Medical Society award for excellence have been given to Doctor McGeorge for his work.
