Perez was the 1st journalist to deliver the news on CNN when the 1st charges against the attack leader on the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. Also, he was the 1st to deliver the news about the prosecutors who filed criminal charges against Bob Menendez (United States Senator).
Before Perez joined CNN, he worked for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) where he recently was responsible for leading Justice coverage. There he assisted in breaking news on the complaint that sparked the federal investigation of David Petraeus (former CIA Director), following the removal of an FBI agent in the case. For multiple years at the Wall Street Journal, he reported on Hurricane Katrina, as well as business beats on real estate, cruise lines, and airlines. He started his journalism career at the Associated Press (AP) in Miami where he worked as a reporter.
