Anderson studied and graduated from Eastern Hills High School. He then attended Dillard University in New Orleans where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Business Management in 2008. In the Fall of 2005, Anderson attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth after Hurricane Katrina flooded Dillard’s campus. He went back to Dillard in the Spring of 2006. He became managing editor for the student newspaper, “The Courtbouillon,” while at Dillard University; was president of the Dillard University Association of Black Journalists and was the Junior Class Vice President.

Anderson anchors NBC 5 Today on Saturday and Sunday mornings and also reports and anchors for NBC 5 Today during the week. Prior to returning to the Lone Star State, Anderson was the weekend evening anchor at WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, an anchor, and reporter at WVUE in New Orleans, a reporter at KWTV in Oklahoma City, and his first reporting job was at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana. In 2010, he had the privilege of covering important news events like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill off the Louisiana coast.
Anderson was also one of the first reporters at the Belle Chasse Naval Air station in Plaquemines Parish after the BP oil rig exploded and sunk. He also was part of a news team that delivered wall-to-wall coverage, in what turned into the largest oil spill in United States history. Harsh weather is not strange to him as he has also covered several tornadoes and major hurricanes. In May 2013, he covered the impact of the EF5 tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, and Hurricanes Gustav, Ike, and Isaac along the Gulf Coast.
When not at work, Anderson enjoys spending time with his family and friends all over North Texas and reunites with his home teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Rangers, Mavs, and the Dallas Stars!
