Kennedy was previously working for CBS2 News where she was serving the station as a co-anchor for CBS 2 Chicago’s weekday morning from 4:30 AM – 7 AM newscasts. Later on, on the 19th of May, she joined Kris Gutierrez behind the station’s anchor desk. This announcement was made Tuesday by Jeff Kiernan, Vice President and News Director of CBS 2.
According to Kiernan, Erin is an exceptional broadcaster. Kiernan further stated that Erin is an experienced news anchor and reporter who will bring intelligence and warmth to morning news in Chicago. Kennedy further stated that she was excited to be a part of a community as diverse as Chicago. Asides from this, she stated that she learned the business and practice of journalism in the Midwest, beginning at Notre Dame and his goal had always been to return to tell the stories that make the people of the communities great.
From the month of December 2011, he worked as an anchor and reporter for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. There, she was serving the station’s lead anchor and reporter for its coverage of the Cleveland kidnapping victims.
Asides from this, during her time at WKYC, she and her colleagues won an Emmy and a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for their coverage of the Chardon School shooting. She joined the WKYC-TV team after working as an anchor and reporter for WPRI and WNAC-TV in Providence, Rhode Island between 2005 and 2011.
Erin began there by working as a weekend evening anchor and in the year 2006 she was promoted to anchor/reporter for the station’s weeknight evening newscasts.
