Major William Cage is assigned to cover the UDF’s major invasion of France in Britain. Through his exposure to an Alpha’s blood, Cage inadvertently “hijacked” their ability to reset time. Vrataski teaches Cage to excel in combat over a series of loops.
Cage flees to London, only to learn that the Mimics will attack there next after the invasion. Cage flies to the dam alone after seeing visions of a dam in Germany where the Omega is hiding. The Omega is not present, and he is ambushed by an Alpha who attempts to deprive him of his ability to reset time, but Cage drowns himself on purpose. As a dying Cage sinks into the Omega’s blood, he loops again and awakens two days earlier, en route to his original meeting with Brigham before the UDF invasion of France. This time, however, he awakens in an alternate timeline and discovers that the entire J-Squad is still alive. He later encounters Vrataski, who does not recognize him and greets him in the same cold manner as in previous loops.
