Also, she likes to read a book that a friend has recommended to her, or explore the regions of Indiana and Kentucky, to see what the two cities have to offer. Additionally, Smith is frequently found singing along to a show tune while trying new cuisines.

In 2021, she signed up for a pageant with Miss Kentucky USA 2021 being her first-ever pageant. Smith represented Germantown in the competition and won the title. She received the right to be the representative of Kentucky at Miss USA 2021, which was held on November 29, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Elle was also the first titleholder under the new Miss USA Organization.
