However, despite being cut off from the outside world, each Islander has a phone which they use to contact other Islanders through texting.

In the show, the winners receive special prizes which include a special date or a night at the Hideaway. The Islanders are eligible for elimination and dumped for various reasons such as public voting via the Love Island mobile app and the incomplete single after a re-coupling.
In the finale of the show, an envelope ceremony occurs where the couple who had the highest number of notes from the public attain two envelopes, one for each partner.
