Prior to joining WRAL-TV, she joined KXLY Broadcasting Group where she served as a meteorologist from March 1995 to March 1998. From August 1990 to March 1994, she worked at WGHP where she served as a news reporter based in High Point, North Carolina.
Gardner has also won several honors and awards including the 2001 Regional Emmy award for best weathercast. Moreover, in 1998, she was nominated for an Emmy Award. The American Meteorological Society honored her as a Certified Meteorologist. She is also the owner of the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. Whenever she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends.
Gardner also enjoys hiking, Mountain biking, reading, whitewater kayaking, and a ton of other outdoor activities. Additionally, she is an active member of the Carolina Canoe Club, and Junior League of Raleigh, and is also a member of the Raleigh Parks and Recreation System Plan.
