Ed Daniels Career
Daniels serves at WGNO as a sports director. He has won the Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year award twice. The award came from the Sportswriters Association, as well as the National Sportscasters. In 2014, the Press Club of New Orleans honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has worked in Louisiana TV for 35 years, the last 33 of which he spent in his hometown.

Daniels is an active member of the De La Salle Athletics and the Archbishop Rummel Athletic Hall of Fames. Above that, he is an alumnus of Archbishop Rummel High School. He graduated from the school in 1975. He then graduated from Loyola University in 1979. Additionally, he is a Heisman Trophy and Wooden Award voter. He is the founder of one of the leading high school football shows in the country, Friday Night Football.
In the 2015 season, he and JT Curtis celebrated 24 years as co-hosts of the shows. Daniels works as a producer of a program, presented by Delgado Community College(Friday Night Fastball). He also co-hosts the program, having the head baseball coach: Joe Scheuermann, as well as the director of athletics: Delgado, alongside him.
Daniels and Timmy Byrd, Riverside basketball coach, are co-tournament directors of the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic, one of the greatest high school basketball tournaments in the nation. An annual high school tournament featuring some of Louisiana’s greatest prep baseball teams, The WGNO baseball classic, is directed by Daniels and Mark Wisniewski, the Brother Martin baseball coach.
