Furthermore, she also won a regional Emmy for her coverage of an airman’s homecoming 37 years after he was killed in action in Vietnam.
Deborah began her broadcasting career after graduating from the University of California, Irvine, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she worked for KHBS-TV (ABC). Six months later, she was hired as a general assignment reporter by KATV-TV (ABC) in Little Rock. She also progressed from weekend morning anchor to weekday morning anchor. Her next jump took her back to her hometown in Southern California.
Her next move brought her back to her roots in Southern California, where she worked as an anchor as well as a reporter for KNSD-TV (NBC) in San Diego. Deborah also worked for NBC News, where she covered major West Coast news events. Deborah enjoys traveling and discovering new places. Additionally, she also enjoys being outside and is looking forward to gardening, skiing, and running. She has also run four marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2011.
Hurricane Katrina was also the most difficult assignment she has ever had. It was also the most satisfying. She witnessed unimaginable devastation. Entire neighborhoods had vanished, along with streets and landmarks, and there were stairs leading up to foundations but no houses. But in the midst of it all, we discovered hope. Like the mailman, who continued her route despite the fact that mailboxes were missing, addresses were changed, and in some cases, there was no house at all.
