David Yeomans Career
Yeomans serves as the chief meteorologist at KXAN News based in Austin, Texas. He started off his career working at the National Weather Service office where he served as a climate records keeper. He, later on, joined the University of Miami where he studied meteorology. Yeomans then interned at the KXAN News weather department under Jim Spencer. He also interned at CBS4 Miami and Spectrum News in Austin. He graduated in 2010 after he returned to the University of Miami for graduate studies. While doing his undergraduate program, he worked for WVUM radio where he gave daily weather forecasts.
Yeomans also worked as the lead weather anchor for the award-winning half-hour news show, Newsvision. In 2012, 2013, and 2016, he was invited to present at the American Meteorological Society’s annual conventions. In addition to that, he is also a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society. He has also received several awards including a Lone Star Emmy Award for the First Warning Weather University series in 2020 and 2019. In 2015, he won r Lone Star Emmy Award and the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters named him First Place Weathercast in 2016. In 2018, the Alliance for Women in Media named him Television On-Air Personality of the Year.
Yeomans is also working on the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Advisory Council. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends. He also enjoys surfing on Lake Austin, volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Austin, and mountain biking in the greenbelt.
