Among its main clients are the NBA, PGA, IMG, International Olympic Committee (IOC), USA Today Sports, NBC Sports, New York Jets, Bose, New York Knicks, and Arizona State University.
Prior to starting his own business, Katz was the Head of Yahoo! Sports and Entertainment, as well as the founder and CEO of Y! Studios, an original content subsidiary. As Yahoo! Sports’ CEO, Katz led the division to the number one traffic rating for the first time in its history, surpassing ESPN. Katz also founded and executive produced the first-ever live fantasy football broadcast, for which he earned a Sports Emmy nomination. Katz, an award-winning producer, pioneered many new formats for the interactive video world, including “The 9,” the Internet’s first-morning show. Before joining Yahoo!, Katz worked for CBS Television for eight years, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves.
At CBS, Katz oversaw two divisions – Strategic Planning and Interactive – and was in charge of the television network’s business strategy as well as the high-growth digital and mobile divisions. Katz helped launch the award-winning reality shows Survivor, Big Brother, and Amazing Race with cutting-edge digital content companions, as well as bringing the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament online for the first time. Under his leadership, the digital division was profitable and expanded year after year. Katz started his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he worked on strategy for Fortune 100 companies.
Katz earned his Master’s Degree from Cambridge University in 1995, with First Class Honours for his thesis titled “Internet Strategy for Media Companies,” which was the first academic study on the Internet’s dynamic impact on the media industry. In 1994, Katz earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, where he finished first in his class and received the “Dean’s Award of Excellence.” Katz also played varsity basketball for the University of Pennsylvania, which was ranked 25th in the country and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
