These 3 awards are the most prestigious awards in journalism, and that marked the first time in the 73-year history of the Awards that the top honor for Foreign Reporting went to a TV report. 

He has also covered alleged human rights abuses in China. He together with his CNN team traveled to Xinjiang in the year 2021 for the purpose of investigating the separation of children from their families. In China, he has also covered the NBA controversy and the United States-China trade war, as well as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Before Culver joined CNN, he worked for NBC Universal Media, LLC in Washington DC as a News Anchor/Reporter for 6 and a half years (Dec 2012 – May 2019). While there, she covered everything from education to politics to crime. Also, he covered numerous national breaking news events such as hurricanes that ravaged parts of the United States, as well as the Pittsburgh synagogue and the Parkland Florida school shootings.

While at NBC Universal, Culver traveled to Cuba where he covered Fidel Castro’s death, the visit of Pope Francis, and the reopening of the United States Embassy. He worked as a producer of “Rediscovering Cuba: A Journey Home,” a 30-minute Emmy award-winning documentary that chronicled his grandma and mother’s return to their native Cuba over 5 decades after they fled the island nation. Before going to NBC Washington, he served at WAVY-TV in Hampton Roads, Virginia as a News Anchor/Reporter for 4 years.
