David Asman Career and Education
Asman is a proud graduate of Marlboro College and Northwestern University. When it comes to his profession, Asman serves both at FOX News Channel (FNC) and FOX Business Network (FBN) as a guest anchor on programs and shows. He has been with FBN since its launch in the year 2007. Previously, he hosted FBN’s post-market program “Bulls & Bears” which aired from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Also, he co-anchored FBN’s program, “After the Bell” which aired from Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
At FNC, he served as an anchor for the weekday Fox News Live. Asman was named head of FNC’s documentary unit in the year 2005 for hosting a series of investigative specials. One of the specials included a 3-part series, “Global Warming: The Debate Continues and U.N. Blood Money,” that examined the oil-for-food controversy.
Before Asman joined FOX News Channel, he served as editorial features editor at the Wall Street Journal. There he edited the “Americas” and the “Manager’s Journal” columns. He was also responsible for writing editorials as well as more than 100 articles from Latin America and elsewhere. He became the senior editor for the Journal’s editorial page in the year 1994, where he added administrative responsibilities to his role.
Asman started his career in journalism in the year 1978 when he worked for Prospect Magazine as an assistant editor, before making his way up to executive editor after a year. He went to work for George Gilder in the year 1980 where he started up an economic journal for the Manhattan Institute. Asman has worked for Perspective on the Economy as a radio commentator, and for the Ford Foundation on African organizations in the U.S. as a consultant. He has also worked for a nightly televised public affairs show, “Issues USA.”
Asman has worked for Fox News where he interviewed numerous politicians, business leaders, and newsmakers such as Rupert Murdoch, U.S. President George W. Bush, William F. Buckley, Jr., and many others. He has edited a book, “The Wall Street Journal on Management: Adding Value Through Synergy.” He holds the 1986 Inter-American Press Association’s (IAPA) Tom Wallace Award which he received for covering Latin America in the Americas column. Inter-American Press Association has honored Asman with the 1995 and 1992 Daily Gleaner Awards for writing articles on Cuba and Mexico’s economy and free trade respectively.
