David Andrews is an American News Anchor/Reporter currently working for WILX-TV since joining the station in the year 1997. He currently co-anchors the 5 pm, 5:30 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm newscasts on WILX News 10.
Before coming to WILX, he was working for WLNS-TV, a CBS-affiliated TV station in Lansing, Michigan. He stayed there for 11 years and 3 months holding the position of News Anchor. Before beginning to work at WLNS, he was in Bryan, Texas, working for a CBS-affiliated TV station, KBTX-TV. He stayed there for 2 years and 8 months serving as the News Anchor/Reporter.
Andrews studied recreation, as well as parks at Steven’s Point University in Wisconsin before becoming a TV anchor. He graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Resource Management. Andrews achieved his dream of working for the National Park Service as a Park Ranger in the early 1980s, monitoring the waters of a recreation area in the state of Washington. He later joined Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University to obtain his master’s degree in Park Planning and Design.
Andrews took a career detour into local news broadcasting in both Texas TV and radio during his post-graduate employment.
Andrews’ commitment to the community is diverse, ranging from the Children’s Miracle Network to the Humane Society. He has spent the majority of his time promoting awareness and funds for the Michigan National Kidney Foundation, as well as Special Olympics Michigan. Andrews also served on the Michigan Community Service Commission for 3 years, with Governor Rick Snyder’s approval. Also, he worked on the board of directors of Endeavor House Ministries, a Lansing-based faith-based recovery house for men struggling with addiction.
Andrews aspires to expand his volunteer work in the future to include causes that will benefit from his infamy and voice in the community.
