A 17-year-old teenager filed charges of rape and sexual harassment against David Rodriguez in 2008. She also reported that a day after helping to apprehend the teen’s 35-year-old boyfriend, David forced himself on her.
David and his counsel vehemently denied the accusation at the initial court hearing and retaliated with suggestions that led everyone to believe that the adolescent was doing it on purpose and had plenty of justification to do so. Darlene, the caring wife, accompanied her husband to the court and claimed that she believed her husband was also 100% innocent and that she loved him very much and believed in h A $25,000 bond and protective custody for the teen against David were posted by the judge.
At subsequent court hearings in September 2008, however, David confessed to the accusation. He said, however, that no sexual activity was involved. He just forced the teen on himself. As a police officer, this cost him his career. He did not face the standard 25 years of prison time, however. Since this was not a case of rape, he was left with a one-year conditional discharge and also a notice that forced him to remain five years away from the teenager.
