Dan Spindle Career
Spindle serves at KSL-TV as a morning co-anchor. He spends the morning off-right co-anchoring KSL 5 News Today and KSL 5 News at Noon. He has recently worked for KNXV-TV – ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona as a News Anchor and Multi-Media Journalist.

Spindle has spent the majority of his career in the desert Southwest but is excited to call Salt Lake City home. He started his career at KOBI-TV in Medford, Oregon, but quickly found success at stations in Arizona; then KSAZ-TV, first at KGUN 9 in Tucson, and most recently, KNXV-TV in Phoenix.
He has covered everything from illegal immigration, and tracking smugglers near the U.S.-Mexico border, to consumer news with “The Financial Fitness Zone” and “Does it Work”. Spindle also lead coverage for a series of reports called “Operation Safe Roads” to help change laws and behavior to make drivers and pedestrians safer. He has traveled to Ft. Hood with a helicopter battalion preparing to deploy.
Spindle covered Gabby Giffords’ campaigns for congress and work in her southern Arizona district before the 2011 shooting rampage in Tucson as well as her recovery afterward. He has a passion for telling stories about people helping people. Spindle loves highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of military members and their families.
He holds an Emmy Award for his work as an anchor and reporter and has also been recognized for his work by the Associated Press. Growing up, he moved around a lot, living in nine states before serving a mission for two years in Peru. Although Dan never lived in Utah until arriving at KSL, Dan’s roots along the Wasatch Front run deep, and his excited to be so close to extended family across Utah and Idaho.

Spindle took a job at KSL-TV in Salt Lake City as a morning and noon anchor. “It was time to move on,” Spindle said Monday during a stop while driving to his new job. “I’m excited to stay in the news business that I love. As long as I can make a living as a storyteller, I’ll keep trying.”
