Dan Bongino 2012 U.S. Senate election
Back in the year 2012, he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in Maryland. Then, his campaign chairman was former gubernatorial candidate, Brian Murphy. He won the Republican primary on the 3rd of April 2012 with about 33.8 percent of the vote. Then, he defeated nine other candidates. Later on, he finished second with 26.6% of the vote against incumbent Democrat Ben Cardin.

This action was taken after Youtube made a decision to ban Bongino from the video platform. It stated that he was going out of the Youtube COVID-19 misinformation policy. Later on, a Google spokesperson said in an emailed statement that they have strict publisher policies that explicitly prohibit misleading and harmful content around the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrably false claims about their elections. During the 2020 election, he promoted false and baseless claims of voter fraud. This was after Joe Biden won the 2020 election and Donald Trump refused to concede. On the other hand, Bongino supported Trump’s claims of election fraud They falsely claimed that the Democrats rigged the election. Dan has also been a strong criticizer of the face mask mandate during the COVID-19 pandemic. He falsely claimed that face masks are “largely ineffective.” He derided them as “face diapers” on several occasions.

The 23rd of September 2020 saw him announce that a seven-centimeter tumor had been found in his throat. Later on, he added that he was unsure if the tumor was cancerous or benign. On the 25th of September, he flew to New York for further screening. On the 2nd of October, he stated that he had received a “bad phone call” from doctors and made an announcement that he would be undergoing surgery on the 7th of October.
Later on, after his surgery, he tweeted that the “entire tumor” was removed from his neck but there was a likelihood he had lymphoma. Bongino stated that he would have treatment in the future. The 16th of October saw him confirm that he received an official diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, adding that he would be continuing treatment in consultation with his doctors. During an interview in the month of July 2021, he made an announcement that he has beaten cancer.

Back in the month of August 2020, he denied that his book benefited from bulk sales maintaining the only event at which books were bought in bulk took place over a month after his book appeared on the list.
He is also the author of Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away from It All. This book is about his career as a Secret Service Agent and was published in the year 2013. He has also authored Protecting the President: An Inside Account of the Troubled Secret Service in an Era of Evolving Threats. The book discusses his experiences protecting the presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
