Damien enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from Southeast High School. He was an air traffic controller in the Marine Corps for five years. Following his discharge from the Marine Corps, he attended the University of Oklahoma. During his time at OU, he delivered his first live, on-air forecast for OU Nightly. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with minors in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
