She was a top ten age group finisher at the 2003 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, a former world-class professional duathlete, and a four-time sub-3 hour marathoner. Not long age she scaled back her competitions to local charity races in the Delaware Valley to raise money for worthy charities. Tynan is the Brandywine River Conservancy and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She is an avid water skier and wake surfer.
