Herridge serves at CBS as a senior investigative correspondent based in Washington D.C. for CBS News covering national security and intelligence. She is a graduate of Harvard College and the Columbia School of Journalism, where she sits on the Alumni Board and has created a National Security Reporting Scholarship.
Herridge has written on some of the most powerful national and international security headlines of our day, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, the military prosecutions of supposed Guantánamo Bay perpetrators, the report by Robert Mueller’s Russian Special Counsel, and the House of indictment hearings. Herridge interviewed President Trump in May 2019 after the Mueller report was released. He has reported from Afghanistan, Iraq, Qatar, Israel, Northern Ireland, Russia, and the former Yugoslavia.
Prior to joining CBS News, Herridge was Chief Intelligence Officer for FOX News Channel, covering the intelligence community, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security, where she was the first cable TV reporter assigned to DHS Beat. Herridge had previously worked as a TV and radio reporter for ABC News in London.
Her book, The Next Wave: The Search for Al-American Qaeda’s Recruits, revealed the post-9/11 challenge of homegrown terrorism, how social media is the lifeblood of the digital jihadist, and the profound influence of the first American on the CIA’s killing or capturing a list of, Anwar al-Awlaki. In 2019, Herridge was awarded the prestigious Tex McCracy Prize for Achievement in Journalism by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

Within weeks after Peter was born, he was diagnosed with biliary atresia. Biliary atresia is a blockage in the ducts that carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder, a rare form of liver disease only seen in infants. His only chance of survival was an organ transplant. On June 6, 2006, Herridge underwent surgery to donate a portion of her liver to her infant son and gave 20% of her liver to Peter when he was 6 months old. The operation was a success.
