Carson Meredith Profile
Carson Meredith is an American Meteorologist currently working for WAAY-TV since joining the station in July of 2019. You can catch his forecasts every morning, from Monday to Friday, on WAAY 31.
He began as the Evening Weekend Meteorologist at the station, where he was seen at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm. In September 2021, he now began his current position, as the Morning Meteorologist.
Meredith has been fascinated with the weather for as long as he can remember. He’s seen everything the south has to offer in terms of extreme weather. An ice storm that ravaged Kentucky in the month of January, the year 2009, was one of Meredith’s most noteworthy meteorological events. After the storm, his family was without power (and without heat in their home) for 5 days. Meredith recalls hearing about some households in the state’s rural areas who were without power for about 1 month.
Meredith has always been interested in current events, in addition to weather. He used to watch the news virtually every night while he was in primary school. So it’s no surprise that broadcast meteorology has long piqued his curiosity. Meredith, on the other hand, never seriously considered it as a vocation until his freshman year in high school. A tornado slammed through Henryville, Indiana, a small town about 20 miles north of Louisville, on the 2nd of March, 2012. He’ll never forget seeing the aftermath of the tornado and the havoc it caused on the news that day. He decided to become a meteorologist on that day.
Meredith’s interest in weather led him to Western Kentucky University(WKU), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology in the month of May, the year 2019. He learned about all aspects of the weather industry during his time at the university, including 2 internships with the National Weather Service in Nashville and Louisville, an internship with WBKO-TV, an ABC/Fox/CW+-affiliated television station in Bowling Green, and serving as Lead Forecaster for White Squirrel Weather, a student-led forecasting service that provides weather information to WKU officials for campus events and in real-time.
His first work in the industry brought him to the Tennessee Valley, and he is thrilled to be able to share his enthusiasm for the weather with you every weekend.
