Prior to the station, she worked for KTNV Channel 13 Action News serving as a News Anchor for three years (from August 2016 to December 2019). He worked for WFAA serving as a weekend morning anchor/reporter in Dallas, Texas for 3 years.

From December 2009 to December 2012 he worked for KOCO TV based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she served as a reporter fill-in anchor. While she was in Las Vegas, she was a founding member of the local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, hosted the national convention of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., and supported Steam education with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. Carla stays involved with the Oklahoma City National Memorial. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
