Williams serves at KGW-TV as the Senior Assignment Manager for the KGW Content Discovery Center. Williams started his career as a reporter in Fairbanks and Medford. After that, he worked on assignment desks in Seattle and Portland, then went to Sacramento before returning to Portland in 1987.
For more than three decades, he has served as a news gatekeeper. He’s served as a Managing Editor and a Sports Director, among other things. Field providing TrailBlazer playoff coverage against the backdrop of the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles is one of the most memorable stories. He was also a member of the news team that broke much of the initial news about Tonya Harding’s assault on Nancy Kerrigan.
Williams graduated from Washington State University’s Broadcast Journalism program in 1979. He is a die-hard Cougars and Pac-12 supporter. Williams also loves collecting Northwest wine and visiting the Oregon Coast, as well as cooking and becoming a foodie.
