Haertl serves as an anchor at FOX31. Prior to working at FOX 31, he worked as a freelance play-by-play for about four years. While still a freelancer, he included college basketball, softball, and baseball games for ESPN, FOX, COX, The Missouri Valley Conference Network, and Sooner Sports TV(University of Oklahoma TV Network just to mention a few. Furthermore, he also worked on the K-State Football Radio for almost 10 years and was also the television voice of Wichita State baseball as well as basketball for about 15 seasons.
Haertl was once a well-known baseball player at Wichita State. He started his journalism career back in October 1984, in Wichita at KWCH TV where he worked for 28 years. During her tenure at KWCH-TV, he enclosed 3 World Series, 19 bowl games(including 4 BCS games), 24 NCAA Tournaments, seven College World Series as well as seven Final Fours. He is also a very active member of the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
