Laizer serves at WGNO as a meteorologist. Laizer, a fifth-grader from Metairie, Louisiana, was inspired by Hurricane Katrina to pursue a career in atmospheric science. She graduated from Mount Carmel Academy and then joined Mississippi State University. While at the university, she was honored “Best College Weathercast Award” by the Louisiana, Mississippi Associated Press in 2017. She graduated from the university with a Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience.
During her time at the university, she was working as an intern in New Orleans, then in Washington, DC. She has also shadowed forecasting for Good Morning America under ABC News Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee on a national level.
Laizer relished her Great Plains Storm Chasing elective, in which she followed storms across the Midwest when she didn’t have any classes. Also, she liked her Disaster Survey Course on San Salvador Island, Bahamas, where she estimated damage totals in order to reconstruct this Hurricane Joaquin-affected community. Laizer started her television career right away, working in Mississippi(Jackson), South Carolina, Augusta, and Myrtle Beach, Georgia.
She is now living out a childhood passion for forecasting for her hometown, which drove her to pursue this career 15 years ago. During her leisure, she enjoys cheering on the New Orleans Saints basketball and football teams. She also likes to travel, as well as root for Mississippi State University athletics when she is not at work.
