Brian Heap is an American anchor and reporter who is currently working at KCRA 3. He serves as the weekend evening co-anchor alongside Kathy Park and reports three nights a week. He joined the KCRA 3 news team in September of 2014.
Brian Heap Career
San Diego is his native home and he is thrilled to be back in California after he had worked for the past 13 years in television stations in other states. While serving as a journalist, he has traveled from the great plains of Wichita, Kansas to the forests of Bend, Oregon. During that time, he worked at KWCH-TV where he served as an anchor and investigative reporter for a period of five years.
Furthermore, he made stops in Memphis and El Paso along the way. For his investigative and spot news reporting, he has earned Associated Press Broadcasters awards. Additionally, his reporting was also featured on national news during coverage of the homecoming of American POWs, high-profile murder trials, and devastating tornadoes.
He did attend the San Diego State University School of Communication where he graduated proudly. During his leisure time, he enjoys football and is a football fanatic and roots (often futilely) for his beloved hometown Chargers, playing golf and dreams of someday breaking 85, and spending ample time with his family.
