Brandi attended Lasell College where she graduated in August 2014, with a Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications with a 3.95 GPA while working full-time. Furthermore, she is also a Clark Atlanta University graduate where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media Arts. Cummings joined the KCRA news team as a general assignment reporter in  April 2018. While working in Northern California, she has covered stories ranging from snow to wildfires. She has also extensively covered issues related to COVID-19 funding, testing, and vaccine equity. In addition, on regular occasions, she gives members of our community a voice to shine a spotlight on important issues.

Previously, she worked in Portsmouth, Virginia at WAVY/WVBT where she served as the solo weekend evening anchor. She also served as a general assignment and an award-winning investigative reporter during the week. In addition, she also worked at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia where she served as a morning anchor.

Furthermore, she also worked in Columbia, South Carolina at WIS where she served as an anchor and reporter. Her career started at WRDW in Augusta, Georgia which is also her native home where she served as a producer. Furthermore, she served as an adjunct professor for the prestigious Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communication at Hampton University from 2016 to 2017. Over the years, she has received a number of honors from the South Carolina Associated Press and the Virginia Associated Press.

In addition, she has won the National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Award twice. For Cummings service to the people in the state, she was honored by the South Carolina General Assembly with a Concurrent Resolution in May 2012. Additionally, she has interviewed a number of influential people including former President Barack Obama.
