He also covered a series of stories on the Amendment 64 implementation that made marijuana in Colorado to be legal. His work earned him a Heartland Regional Emmy award in the year 2015. While Sanchez was in college, he worked as an intern at an NBC affiliate, WTVJ-TV in Miami, Florida. He got his first on-air job at KRCR-TV in Redding, California.
