Prior to working at WTVH, Van Dillen worked as the chief meteorologist for ABC affiliate WUTR in Utica, New York. He began his career as a forecaster for the Metro Weather Service on Long Island, New York. In March 1997, Van Dillen received the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. In addition, he is a full member of the AMS.
