The producers of the film The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg as Micky Ward and Christian Bale as Micky’s brother Dicky Eklund, have hired Bob Halloran as a technical consultant.

In 2004, Halloran published Destiny Derailed, a book about the Boston Red Sox’s 2003 playoff collapse. Breakdown: The Story of Gang Warfare, High School Football, and the Coach Who Policed the Streets was published in 2010. Halloran is an adjunct professor in the communications department at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, where he teaches news journalism courses. He has also been a regular contributor to the Boston Metro newspaper as a sports columnist.

In the early 1990s, Halloran worked as an anchor for ESPNews, a writer for ESPN.com, a sports reporter for WFXT Fox 25 News in Boston, a co-host of a sports talk radio show for Boston’s 890 ESPN, and a news anchor on WCVX TV58 Cape Cod. He is a Washington and Lee University and Mater Dei High School graduate.

On August 16, 2016, WCVB explained Halloran’s MIA (Missing In Action). Halloran was off on-air since reporting from Patriot’s training camp (Gillette Stadium) at the end of July 2016. Upon the coverage, he went to his doctor for what he thought could be a migraine.

 It was unfortunate that it turned out that he had a brain aneurysm and required immediate surgery. Two weeks later under the careful treatment of the staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he was released from the hospital and went home for recovery. After recovery, he went on to continue with his job at WCVB.
