Jean attended Winthrop University and in 2013 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in Marketing. While there, she covered issues in the community and political news on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. She got her first job after graduation at the FOX affiliate in Charlotte, NC. Jean worked as an Assignment Desk Editor and Digital Journalist. During her time there, she reported the historic Civil Rights case of the “Friendship Nine.” The news was emotional and compelling and went on to capture national headlines.

She is an award-winning and Emmy-nominated previously served in Charlotte, North Carolina at the NBC affiliate for four years. In the course of her time there, she worked as a fill-in anchor, morning reporter as well as general assignment reporter.
During her time in Charlotte, she covered the 2017 ambush and murder of a York County, SC detective, the FBI investigation into unlawful arrests made by the former sheriff of Chester County, SC, and a week-long manhunt for an accused mass murderer in Chester, SC. In addition, she reported the death of South Carolina’s first black chief justice, Ernest Finney as well as the election of Charlotte’s first female Mayor. Jean created, hosted, and produced a segment highlighting and educating people on topics and issues in communities of color.
Prior to moving to Charlotte, she served at WIS as a general assignment reporter. She was among the first reporter who covered the tragic shooting in Charleston, SC at Mother Emanuel AME Church in 2015. In 2016 she had a seat with the family and attorney of Keith Scott who was fatally shot by a Charlotte-Mecklenberg police officer. Jean interviewed 2016 presidential candidates and covered South Carolina’s historic 2015 floods.
The South Carolina Education Association was selected to receive the prestigious School Bell Award in 2019. Jean is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
