Shaban is an investigative reporter for NBC Bay Area who attended the University of Florida where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism as well as a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Several news organizations have recognized Shaban for his work, including the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Society of Professional Journalists, Louisiana Associated Press, Florida Associated Press, and the Iowa Broadcast News Association.

Lately, Shaban has led an investigation into the misuse of school police officers and captured the attention of top officials at the White House. He was also recognized with a George Foster Peabody award, an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University award, two Emmy awards, as well as an Edward R. Murrow award for the investigation which led to security changes in schools across the country. He was also a network correspondent for CBS News, based in Los Angeles before joining the Investigate Unit. Shaban also reported for the network’s 24-hour affiliate news service and CBS Newspath.
