Ben Pine Profile
Ben Pine is an American Meteorologist and News Anchor working for WHAS11 in Louisville, Kentucky. He joined the station in May 2008.
Ben Pine Career
Pine serves at WHAS as a news anchor and the Chief Meteorologist. Pine’s first appearance on TV was in fifth grade when he won a weather drawing contest and was featured on the noon news by a specific St. Louis weatherman. His joy was short-lived when he heard that he’d have to go on live TV in front of his entire school(he has a stage phobia). Pine had no idea then, that 11 years later he’d be a member of the team of Ball State University Storm Chase, tracking tornadoes across the Great Plains. After overcoming his anxiety about speaking in front of big crowds, he is now happy to be in charge of advising people to seek shelter when tornadoes and severe weather strike.

Pine began his television career at Ball State University on WCRH-TV in Muncie, Indiana. He and his wife were heading to Peoria, Illinois for Pine’s first professional job, a stint in forecasting and radio for professional golf events with Mobile Weather Team, Incorporated Companies.
He subsequently worked for 1 year at a CBS-affiliated television station in Jefferson City, Missouri, KRCG-TV. After that, he spent 3 years at an NBC-affiliated television station in Augusta, Georgia, WAGT-TV, working as a morning meteorologist. In May of 2008, he joined the First Alert Storm Team. “I will always remember getting to caddy on those hallowed grounds of Augusta National for 3 seasons, and getting to play 4 times!” Pine said as he arrived at the home of one of golf’s best courses and the Masters.
Pine holds the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Seal of Approval, as well as the coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal and the National Weather Association’s (NWA) Seal. In 2007, Pine received the AP award for being the best weather reporter.
