Barry Brandt is an American Meteorologist currently working for KATV since joining the station in the year 1997. He currently serves as a Chief Meteorologist at the station. Also, you can find his forecasts on “Channel 7 News at 5,” and “MidDay Arkansas”.
He is a proud alumnus of the University of Kansas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science in the year 1986. After graduating from the university, he went to work for KQTV, an ABC-affiliated TV station in St. Joseph, Missouri, as the chief meteorologist. He went to the Little Rock television market a year later and has remained there ever since.
Since the year 1988, Brandt has been a member of the American Meteorological Society(AMS), and in the year 1990, his weathercasts received the AMS Television Seal of Approval. He became an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in the year 2010.
In the years 2004 and 2008, he received the Associated Press Best Weathercast Award. Brandt has spoken to thousands of students over the years, volunteering to numerous Arkansas non-profit groups.
