She worked as a weekend general assignment reporter for WISH-TV in Indianapolis, as well as a television news anchor/reporter for WLVI-TV in Boston, a general assignment reporter for WLNE-TV in Providence, and a news reporter for WAND in Decatur, Illinois, and KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona.
Barbara received Emmy nominations in 1993, 1999, 2001, 2008, and 2014. In 2008, she received an Associated Press Award for her coverage of the shaken baby syndrome. Barbara was also inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences in New England in 2019 for her distinguished service in television for more than 25 years.
Morse is very involved in the community, and she spends a lot of her free time helping local charitable groups. She has received numerous honors from organizations such as A Wish Come True, The Tomorrow Fund, the Rhode Island Blood Center, the Rhode Island Black Nurses’ Association, The Rhode Island Black Historical Society, Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, and the Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Rhode Island over the years. She’s lived in Southern New England since 1987, making her an honorary Rhode Islander, she claims.

Barbara’s father died in an Ohio nursing home, according to a tribute that aired Monday on NBC 10. Morse, 88, was a trombone player in Lionel Hampton’s band after winning a contest as a teen. Patrice Wood described him as having a “large, exuberant personality,” and a photo from late 2016 showed him playing in a church praise band. She has two siblings; a sister Cheryl, and a brother, Stan.
