Gibbs co-anchors the morning and noon newscasts with Eyewitness News Anchor John Clark, Amber Rupinta, and ABC11 AccuWeather Meteorologist Don Schwenneker. She has also managed to tour different states and countries all over the world so as to enclose events that hit the headlines. For instance, she traveled to New York City with a Durham breast cancer survivor to meet “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts.
Additionally, she also met a miracle family; a young mother with cystic fibrosis who survived giving birth and a double-lung transplant. Furthermore, she managed to tell a soldier’s story; local veterans in the home building industry built a house for free for a triple amputee Iraq war soldier and his wife.
Gibbs attended Auburn University. She graduated with a BA degree in journalism (PR) and a minor in sociology. Prior to joining ABC11, she previously worked for WTVQ (Lexington, KY) where she served as the morning anchor/reporter.
She then moved on to working for WSLS-TV (Roanoke, Virginia) where she served as a co-anchor of the 6/11 pm shows. Whenever she is not working, she enjoys traveling, going home to be with family and friends as well as watching college football (WAR EAGLE). Additionally, she stays in Raleigh with her cute Maltese, Sophie.
