Ashley Mackey is a Community Journalist for ABC7 Eyewitness News since joining the team in August 2019. She previously worked as a reporter and anchor in Phoenix, Arizona, for Cronkite News on Arizona PBS.
Mackey attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she earned her master’s degree in sports journalism. She received her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Montana. At Montana, Mackey studied on a full-ride tennis scholarship, and when she graduated from there, Mackey traveled the world playing professional tennis for two years.
She worked as a News21 fellow on the “Hate In America” project, which garnered awards such as an Edward R. Murrow award, a Robert F. Kennedy Award, a BEA award, and an EPPY award. Mackey also interned at the United States Tennis Association.
She is excited to be back and reporting on Inglewood, the city where she was born. Mackey serves her community alongside her sorority members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Inc.
