Arwa Damon is an American Correspondent and Reporter who is well known for having worked for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. She joined the network in the year 2006 and resigned in 2022.

When Damon was in high school, he skipped 6th grade. He attended Robert College and graduated with honors at 16 years old. After that, she went to spend one year with her aunt and uncle in Morocco, where she learned show jumping. He then moved to the United States to enroll at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. Damon graduated from the college with honors in the year 1999 with a double major in French and Biology, as well as a minor in international affairs. She fluently speaks French, English, Arabic, and Turkish.

Damon announced her departure from the network in June 2022. Before beginning his career as a reporter, she worked for a New York-based Turkish textile company.

At CNN, Damon has reported on the Iraqi election of January and December 2005, as well as the constitutional referendum vote in October 2005. In January 2007, she covered the trials and executions of Awad Hamed al-Bandar, Barzan Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti, and Saddam Hussein. She has also traveled to Thailand to report on the Tham Luang cave rescue. She went to Kathmandu in Nepal in the year 2019 to cover a spike in fatalities amongst Mount Everest climbers.

Awards and Recognitions

Damon holds an Investigative Reporters and Editors’ IRE Award for covering the Consulate attack in Benghazi, along with Sarmad Qaseera, her fellow photojournalist. She was among the CNN team coverage that earned the Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Coverage in the year 2012. Additionally, the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) has honored her with the Courage in Journalism Award.
