Art Norman is an American news reporter working at NBC 5 News since joining the station in July of 1982. Before joining NBC 5 News he was working as a reporter at WMAR-TV.
He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math and Physics from Johnson C. Smith University. He is also known as a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and holds a first-class F.C.C. engineer’s license.

Norman serves as a general assignment reporter at NBC5 News. Since 1999 he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at WMAR-TV. Before joining WMAR-TV, he was working as a reporter at WPCQ-TV and WSOC-TV, both in Charlotte. He started his broadcasting career in 1969, as a television engineer at WCCB-TV. He worked in the NBC5 News exclusive investigation of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
Norman received many honors for journalistic excellence. He has an Emmy Award for his contribution to NBC5’s coverage of the Chicago Auto Show special. Norman won Emmys for his spot news coverage of the Fox River Grove Bus Crash. He had a national Investigative Reporters and Editors Award and a 1992-93 Associated Press Award for “Best Investigative Reporting.”
He is known as the spokesman for the United Negro College Fund and serves as an on-air host of their telethon. Norman is a documentary on the plight of poor children who won a 1978 School Bell Award from the National Association of Educators.
