Aric Richards is an American journalist and Emmy-winning anchor on FOX 5 Morning News. He joined FOX 5 as a multi-media journalist in 2015, writing, shooting, and editing his own stories for the evening newscasts.

Richards serves as an anchor on the FOX5 morning news. In the winter of 2016, he went from reporting at 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., with the help of a photographer filming and editing his stories. He began delivering live reports across San Diego County at 4:30 a.m. Aric has covered some of the most important breaking news in our region, if not the country, such as the mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017, which was the deadliest in U.S. history.
He has covered presidential visits and been on the front lines of major wildfires in California, in addition to numerous trips to the US-Mexico border to report on the immigration crisis. Aric worked as a reporter at the NBC station in Bakersfield, California, before moving to America’s Finest City. This is the same station where he began his internship after graduating from high school.
Soon after his internship, he was producing two evening newscasts for Kern County, before advancing to a reporter a few years later. Aric frequently says that he “got a career before a degree” because he dropped out of college to pursue a career in the news industry and a full-time shift in the newsroom. Aric is also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association’s board of directors. Richards is also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association’s board of directors.
