Anthony Wilson is an American award-winning anchor/reporter working for ABC11 serving as an anchor. He joined the ABC11 Eyewitness News team in 1993.

Anthony Wilson Career

Wilson co-anchors the Eyewitness News weekend morning newscasts and reports weekday mornings for Eyewitness News and abc11.com. He had also previously worked for other stations prior to joining ABC11. For instance, he previously worked for WXII in Winston-Salem where he served as a reporter and substitute anchor for three years.

While still at WXII, he received a Best Feature award from the Associated Press for “A Joyful Noise,” his series of reports on gospel music in North Carolina. Prior to that, he worked for Florida Public Television where he served as a reporter/producer.

While here, he enclosed the state legislature and filed a series of documentaries about the Miami riots, the “Official English” movement, the manufacture and marketing of assault weapons, homelessness in south Florida, and other issues affecting the people living in that state.

Wilson is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists as well as the former broadcast vice president of the Triangle Association of Black Journalists. He was also a lead instructor of NABJ’s annual four-day short course for aspiring journalists at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, NC.

Additionally, he is also working to develop more minority journalists through his participation in the Unity: Journalists of the Color mentor program. Additionally, he is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
